The little kick we needed

It's been nice. Rob's dad is coming to town this weekend and that typically gives you the little kick you need to clean the house and finish some small projects. Some of things that Rob and I have done around the house are:
1. Bought a spare bed for the bedroom downstairs.
2. Cleaned out that bedroom of boxes and set it up to be livable.
3. Cleaned up the basement and placed boxes in some type or order.
4. Planted some flowers out front.
5. Cut the grass.
6. Installed a bathroom fan.
7. Installed the new sconces.
8. Cleaned the house.

I know there is more, but I can't think it it. Here are tons of pictures.

It's March Madness

The selection of the 64 teams that go to the NCAA Tournament is tonight. This is one of my favorite times of year, I love the energy that follows college basketball. It will be a little strange with games starting at 9am on Thursday and Friday, when they usually start at 12 on the east. I think I will try to stream them at work, until I am told that I can’t. What? I didn’t know I couldn’t stream at the office? I am running today to Target to get two big pieces of posterboard so we can pick our teams and mark them off as they lose, one by one.

We fixed the ceiling yesterday. It was a lot of hard work. Sanding and patching, painting, and more painting. It looks acceptable now, which is about all you can ask for in a house like this. We also put up our new light fixture and started to install the pendant lighting. It is moving along… slow but sure. We may tackle the pass through today or the backsplash tiling.

Rob and I are both running into work today to try to get some things done for this week. I guess I will stop by Nordstrom’s and the Market to get some flowers on the way home.

Below are some pictures that we took yesterday. Stewie, in Rob's Gym Bag. The before picture of the ceiling/walls and the after. No green paint yet. We'll paint it the final color after the passthrough and backsplash is done.

Great Music on a Friday Night

If you read this blog or ask me what music I like. I will typically say that I like more "unkown" folky music. We have loved Stephen Kellogg for a while and have seen him a number of times. It all started with a small concert at St Joeseph College in West Hartford a few years back when he was just a one man band. Now he has moved on to a keyboardist, a bass player, and a drummer and they call themselves Stephen Kellogg and the Sixers.

We saw them back in November at the Crocodile Café and just by chance I looked again and there he was… he was going to be here again last night. This time he was touring with the Pat McGee band, which is one of Rob’s favorites from back in Ann Arbor at the Blind Pig. I saw the Pat McGee Band once at the Webster Theatre in Hartford and hated it, so I wasn’t sure how it would be.

We went to Mama’s Kitchen after work for some tacos and beers. YUM. Rob wasn’t that big of a fan. Could be the bratty kid and idiot parents we had sitting next to us. The food sat in out stomach the whole night like a big lump of laundry. Thtat’s what Mexican food always does, right?

The show started promptly at 7 (I like that). Stephen Kellogg played all my favorites and some new ones too! Pat McGee was good. He traded his electric guitar from the last time I saw him for his acoustic, which is never ever a bad thing in my opinion. The Croc is smaller, but I like it…especially with Washington’s no smoking laws.

So... where are we?

This weekend went buy in a whirlwind and now the weekend is going by even faster. Rob and I are both so busy at work that it seems like when we get home we just want to drop. This weekend it was sooo nice out. In the 60s. I can get used to not having snow. We were able to do some cleaning up outside while grilling for lunch. We didn’t go out Saturday or Sunday, so it was pretty boring. Check out the Flickr photos on the left hand side of the screen. Some cute photos from Saturday.

On Friday our favorite band is coming back to town, Stephen Kellogg and the Sixers. They are playing at the crocodile café again, even though it seems like we just saw him there.

Sonics vs. Pistons

A group of us Michiganders went to the Sonics game last night. The Pistons were in town and the tickets were cheap. We met beforehand at happy hour at a fine establishment called Peso's in lower Queen Anne, not far from the stadium. Although this place was nice, they shut down the happy hour early becaue it was a game night. Boo! So the drinks were expensive. It was a good game, the pistons won by two with .2 second left. It was a great game. Coming from someone who doesn't like professional sports, we had a blast. Key Arena is also really nice. Although I have only been there once, it seems adequate to me (what do I know), so why do I need to buy them a new stadium? Moving on. We stopped after the game for a drink and then took the bus home. After 7pm, the bus takes us a half a block from our house. Perfect.
