I can't seem to find the new weeks subjects for the 52 week photo challenge, so I guess we are done with that fun until the new list is updated. In the meantime, I wanted to show photos of how the garden is looking so far. This afternoon I harvested snap peas, basil, spinach, purple spinach, and an onion. Not bad!

Josephine is 8 Months Old
Each month as I type these posts I cringe. I can't believe she is another month older and we are quickly approaching that one year birthday. yikes! Josie, Rob, and I have been enjoying what little bit of summer we have had so far. Being home with Josie for the Seattle summer is a dream come true. Our summers are so short and so wonderful that Josie was the perfect excuse to take the summer off!
Big news for Josie. She has two teeth! Of course as I had been looking up at the top teeth, the bottoms slid right through. Crawling doesn't seem to be in the cards for her right now. She is always walking with assistance from mom or dad and that's all she wants to do.
Nicknames: Josie
Likes: Walking, Walking, and more Walking! Playing with her friends (who also includes Stewie the cat). 4pm dance parties with mom.
Dislikes: Diaper changes. We don't know why but it seems to be really common at this age.
Accomplishments: Two bottom teeth, Walking. Eating everything! She has been an adventurous eater. This month she had Elk, Crab, lots of salmon, Kale, lots of fruit. We also took a trip to Seaview, WA.
Nuisances: Teething pains, fingernails, and toenails.
Current Weight: NA - We should have these details next month!
Current Height: NA - We should have these details next month!

ROCKitSpace - Another Hidden Gem in Beacon Hill
Josie and I headed down to the ROCKitSpace event yesterday from 4pm - 6pm. It was called 'Family Free For All" and here is the description:
Family Free For All - Third Tuesdays, 4-6pm
A monthly social-time with music and arts for all families, taking place every THIRD Tuesday of the month at the Garden House on Beacon Hill (2336 15th Ave S.). Casual atmosphere, meet your neighbors, reconnect with friends in a kid-friendly space. Enjoy music, art, toys, and games. Cookies and juice provided. Feel free to bring your own food and beverages.
We listened to the "Sweet Peas" and watched the kids play. It turned out to be a beautiful afternoon and was a lot of fun.

Week 25: Fathers - First Father's Day
We're behind on the weekly photos for sure. But this week is easy. Happy First Father's Day to my favorite new dad, Rob. Josie and I are so lucky to have to taking care of us. :)
This is my favorite recent photo of Josie and Rob. More and more people comment on how much Josie looks like Rob. You can really see it in this photo.

5 Things I love about Seaview, WA
So this past weekend we visited Seaview, WA for the first time. I had purchased a Groupon offer a few months ago and it was a really great deal to stay at Shelburne Inn. This is part of our effort to see more of the Pacific Northwest this year. Seaview is right on the ocean on the Long Beach Peninsula. We had a really great trip exploring this lovely little beach town.
Specifically we loved...
1. The Elk Burger. The Pub at the Shelburne Inn had a locally hunted Elk Burger as a special and it was really great. Josie, Rob, and I shared the big burger.
2. Seeing Bears (and tracks). We took a 9 mile walk one day and on the path we saw bear tracks. Later that day we took a drive to the state park and saw a bear on the road. I am happy we didn't see the tracks on our drive and the bear on our walk!
3. The Beach Path. There is a paved path called "Discovery Trail" that runs along the ocean. It's a great trail that you can bike, walk, or run on.
4. Seafood. This area of Washington is known for its oysters and clams. Along the road towards Seaview you'll find clam and oyster shacks to stop to get lunch.
5. The Shelburne Inn. We really liked this B&B. I am not sure I would pay the full rate to stay here but the owners were awesome and the food was really great. All the food was seasonal and local and outstanding.

New Food Truck in Beacon Hill
This week Josie and I tried out the new food truck in Beacon Hill across from The Station and in the parking lot of El Centro de la Raza. We tried the vegetarian torta for $5. What a treat! The torta had black beans, sauteed eggplant and onions, avocados, and a real surprise...huge chunk of my most favorite cheese - GOAT CHEESE! We saved some for Rob, but around 3pm Josie and I ate the rest of it! She loved it to. Big Score for Beacon Hill!

Week 22: Playtime - Kirkland Vodka
With a subject of "Playtime" the obvious choice would be to write about Josie. Instead we are posting about the big liquor change that happened on June 1st here in Washington. We can now bypass the state run liquor store and buy liquor at grocery stores! What that really means is that we can now buy Kirkland brand Vodka at Costco! To celebrate this special day, we're having some friends over for Kirkland vodka cocktails. Cheers!
