Costa Rica!

We just got back from 11 days in Costa Rica with our BFFs Marc and Michele. It was a great time!Instead of touring the whole country, like a lot of people do, we decided to really settle in to one part of the country - the Caribe. After flying into San Jose we were able to make our way down to Puerto Viejo. A little bit about PV from Frommers –

“Puerto Viejo is the hottest spot on Costa Rica's Caribbean coast. And I'm not just talking about the sometimes stifling heat. Even though Puerto Viejo is farther down the road from Cahuita, it's much more popular, with a livelier vibe and more ongoing development. Much of this is due to the many surfers who come here to ride the town's famous and fearsome Salsa Brava wave, and only slightly mellower Playa Cocles beach break. Nonsurfers will appreciate the abundance of excellent swimming beaches, plenty of active adventure options, nearby rainforest trails, and some great local and international restaurants”.

For the purposes of this trip, we spent one week at Pachamama with hosts Bill and Kathy. It's a rustic little house right across from the beautiful Punta Uva Beach. Not only did we have monkeys swinging around the house, we also had breakfast brought to us every morning, free use of their bikes. We couldn't have asked for a better place to stay. There were more than enough restaurants nearby to keep us busy for dinner and Bill even cooked dinner for us two nights.

Now on to San Jose, we spend two nights with Rita and Steve as Casa Bella Rita. What a treat this place was. In an otherwise run down city, Casa Bella Rita is a little oasis of heaven and was recently names Trip Advisor’s top 10 Bed and Breakfast in the world. The hosts really make the stay here, it was fun and comfortable. We highly recommend staying at either or both locations!
